Anthropic Adds Live Dashboards and Editable Animations to Claude

Anthropic announced Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion on October 8, adding tools for data exploration and animated explainers to its Claude workspace. Dashboards turns plain-language questions about company information into views that update as connected data changes. Motion produces editable animations from text, charts, shapes and images.

The two features are in beta, but their audiences differ: Dashboards is available on paid plans, while Motion is limited to Team and Enterprise. In the same announcement, Anthropic moved Docs, Slides and Design out of beta and made them available on every plan, including Free.

Claude Dashboards exposes the query behind each chart

Users can connect Claude to data platforms including Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake, or ask about information in connected apps such as Salesforce. They can describe a question in ordinary language—for example, how this week’s signups compare with last month—and ask Claude to build a dashboard from the answer.

Each chart shows the query Claude used and when its data was last refreshed. Users can click a number to inspect its query or ask Claude to explain it. Anthropic describes Dashboards as a way to explore questions quickly, rather than a replacement for dedicated analytics systems.

When users need to continue their analysis elsewhere, Anthropic says they can send a dashboard to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma. Looker, monday.com and Tableau are listed as coming soon. The announcement does not specify how often dashboards refresh.

Motion animates supplied material instead of generating footage

Claude Motion can turn a report into a short explainer, add movement to a chart or create a product walkthrough. Anthropic says the feature writes code to animate text, charts, shapes and images; it does not use a video-generation model or create footage and AI-generated people.

Users can edit the animation themselves or ask Claude to revise it, changing details such as wording, numbers or timing. Finished work can be downloaded as an MP4, or taken into tools including Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI and Runway. Canva and Captions are listed as coming soon.

Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans. Anthropic says Enterprise administrators must turn it on in Organization settings under Artifacts; Dashboards is also off by default for Enterprise organizations.

Docs, Slides and Design leave beta

Anthropic says users have created more than 45 million documents, decks and designs with Claude. The company is now making Docs, Slides and Design generally available across its plans, while adding features such as team editing and exports to PowerPoint and PDF. The 45 million figure applies to those existing formats, not the newly launched Dashboards and Motion betas.

Anthropic is also bringing the standalone Claude Design site into Claude. The separate site is scheduled to remain available until December 14, giving users time to move their work; Anthropic says projects will continue working there until then. Chats, comments and public links from the standalone version will not be available after it closes.
