Sierra is an enterprise AI company that builds a platform (sometimes described as an "agent OS") for creating branded, autonomous AI agents that handle customer service and commerce interactions across chat, voice, SMS, WhatsApp, email, and ChatGPT. The platform includes tools such as Ghostwriter, an agent-building tool that generates production-ready, multilingual agents from SOPs, transcripts, or plain-English descriptions; Agent Studio, a no-code dashboard for building, testing, and optimizing agents; and Insights, an analytics suite for monitoring and improving agent performance. Sierra is known for its outcome-based pricing model, in which customers pay based on successful resolutions rather than seats or usage. Sierra was co-founded in 2023 by Bret Taylor (former Salesforce co-CEO, co-creator of Google Maps, and chairman of OpenAI's board) and Clay Bavor (former Google executive). Headquartered in San Francisco with additional offices in New York, Atlanta, London, Singapore, Tokyo, Paris, Madrid, and Toronto, Sierra has grown rapidly, reportedly serving a large share of the Fortune 50. The company has raised substantial funding from investors including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, Greenoaks Capital, Thrive Capital, ICONIQ Capital, Tiger Global, and Google's GV, reaching a post-money valuation of roughly $15.8 billion after a $950 million Series E round announced in May 2026.
