North.cloud Raises $60 Million to Automate Cloud and AI Spending

North.cloud has closed a $60 million Series B to automate infrastructure-cost decisions its chief executive says companies still treat as an engineering chore. The company argues that cloud, AI and data bills increasingly overlap, while many teams still manage them through separate consoles and manual reviews.

That gap shapes North’s pitch: spending on technology is a business decision, not simply a matter of trimming cloud infrastructure. The round, announced October 15, 2026, will fund a broader effort to automate cost optimization across cloud providers and bring AI spending into the same system.

PeakSpan leads North’s $60 million round

PeakSpan Capital led the Series B. Litquidity Ventures, Companyon Ventures, Alpaca, Uncommon Denominator, Gaingels and Mana Ventures also participated. North says it will use the financing to expand optimization across cloud providers, deepen integrations, accelerate AI spend management, and grow its engineering, product and go-to-market teams.

CEO and co-founder Matt Biringer framed the investment as a challenge to conventional FinOps tools. “The rest of the market still treats optimization as an engineering problem. We think that's the wrong bet: it's a business problem, and it deserves a real fintech platform built on automation and AI, not another tool bolted onto engineering's plate,” Biringer said.

North v3 links cloud, AI and data costs

The funding follows North v3, launched in August, which added Microsoft Azure to the company’s existing Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform coverage. The release also introduced native integrations with OpenAI, Anthropic and Snowflake, and extended Autobot, North’s automated engine for managing cloud commitments.

Autobot handles commitment purchases and renewals, according to North’s August product announcement. The company says it models usage and adjusts commitments as needs change. The funding announcement also spotlights TokenFlow, which brings model usage, cost attribution, budgets and financial controls into the same system as cloud infrastructure spending.

TokenFlow’s availability has been more limited: North described it as an early-beta feature when it announced v3 on August 20. The October funding announcement does not give a broader release date. That makes the product a concrete part of North’s expansion plan, but not yet a generally available answer to AI cost tracking.

The savings figures come from North and its customers

North says it is approaching $2 billion in managed cloud spend and has helped customers save more than $400 million. Its announcement names AssemblyAI, Atlan, Tines, SnapLogic, Emplifi and Imply among its customers, and reports a 98.8% retention rate.

Ben Gotthold, Head of Inference at AssemblyAI, said the company’s effective savings rate with North had remained around 50% as its infrastructure grew over the previous year. The customer’s testimonial supports North’s case for automated savings, but the announcement does not provide a breakdown of the figure or an independent measurement.

PeakSpan Capital partner Sanket Merchant made a broader estimate, saying 30% of cloud spend is wasted before AI and data costs are counted. That is the investor’s characterization, not a measured figure specific to North’s customers. The round rests on North’s bet that linking visibility to automated purchasing and optimization can turn that reported waste into savings.

TokenFlow is the next test

North’s announcement ties the new capital to expanding its automated platform rather than naming a single product launch date or itemized budget. Its stated priorities are wider cloud-provider optimization, deeper integrations, more AI spend management and team growth.

For TokenFlow, the immediate marker is the move beyond the early beta North described in August. The company says it plans to accelerate AI spend management with the financing; its release does not specify when TokenFlow will become generally available.
