OpenAI’s September 29 DevDay announcements put shared documents, team projects and recurring work inside ChatGPT, extending the product beyond one-to-one conversations. The company introduced ChatGPT Space, collaborative Pages and slides, and team tasks that can use connected tools to gather information and act on a schedule or when events occur.
The move gives ChatGPT several jobs associated with workplace software: holding shared information, helping colleagues build documents together and coordinating work across connected apps. OpenAI says the changes reach a potential audience of 1.2 billion weekly users across its ChatGPT ecosystem, though the new team features are limited by plan and device.
ChatGPT Space becomes the team’s shared room
Space is a dedicated area where teammates, ChatGPT and an AI agent OpenAI calls a “dot” can work from shared knowledge. The company says ChatGPT can organize the space according to instructions, helping teams find information and resume work. OpenAI describes it as “A new home for your team to collaborate with AI to get work done.”

OpenAI, DevDay 2026 Recap
ChatGPT Space is available to Pro, Business and Enterprise users on desktop and web. Users can find, read and share pages on mobile, while creating and editing those pages on mobile are still to come. That split makes the initial release more useful for teams already working at a computer than for groups that rely on phones to build and revise materials.
Pages and slides bring documents into the chat
Pages are shared documents where people and AI can write, research, generate charts, create images and visualize information. A user can start one from a conversation and invite colleagues to contribute. OpenAI says Pages are available to Pro, Business and Enterprise customers.
Collaborative slides are planned for the same plans in the coming weeks. Multiple teammates and agents will be able to edit a deck and leave comments, then present it in ChatGPT or export it to PowerPoint or Google Slides with its formatting intact. The export option matters: OpenAI is adding a shared creation space, not requiring teams to abandon the presentation tools they already use.
Scheduled work reaches Slack and Microsoft Teams
Business and Enterprise teams can create teams inside ChatGPT to share Pages, slides, plugins and spreadsheets, then assign recurring tasks such as weekly project updates. Those tasks can use connected tools and respond to events including a new email or Slack message. OpenAI also says users can mention @ChatGPT in Slack or Microsoft Teams channels, threads or direct messages to work on team tasks in the conversation itself.
The company is adding a Meetings plugin in beta for Pro and Business users in the ChatGPT desktop app on macOS, with Enterprise support planned. It takes notes, saves personalized summaries and action items in ChatGPT Space, and can help turn those notes into a project update or follow-up. OpenAI says the audio is deleted after the notes are ready and cannot be accessed or replayed.
OpenAI is building around connected tools, not replacing them
Plugins give ChatGPT connections to workplace systems, while the new features add places to share results and coordinate follow-up. The announcements point toward ChatGPT acting as a shared layer across team activity rather than a conventional office suite built around standalone word-processing and spreadsheet programs. That is an interpretation of the product direction; OpenAI’s release describes the features and plan availability, not a promise to replace existing workplace software.
The rollout also has clear limits. Space and Pages start with paid plans, mobile creation and editing remain pending, and collaborative slides are not yet available. For now, the most concrete change is that eligible teams can create and share Pages in ChatGPT Space on web and desktop, while the slide-editing feature is still due in the coming weeks.
