A new HCLTech unit will support Claude deployments
HCLTech plans to create a dedicated Anthropic Business Unit and Center of Excellence as part of a global partnership announced October 12. The new unit will develop agentic AI solutions and provide secure sandbox environments for enterprise deployments of Anthropic’s Claude models through FDEs. HCLTech says it will also help clients adopt AI-native engineering practices, train employees and build internal capabilities to operate agentic systems.
The announcement describes an expanded services and product relationship, not a named customer deployment. HCLTech says its services teams will develop industry solutions using Claude, Cowork and Claude Code, with a focus on safety, cybersecurity and governance. The release does not identify a launch date for the unit, specific customer projects or financial terms.
Claude is slated for HCLSoftware products and AI Force
HCLSoftware will become an Anthropic independent software vendor partner and integrate Claude capabilities into selected products. The company names HCL BigFix and HCL AppScan, which serve automation and cybersecurity needs, and says the arrangement will also support Actian AI analyst. HCLSoftware will have access to advanced models for integrations across cybersecurity, automation, business process applications and application development.
HCLTech also plans to add Claude and Claude Code to AI Force, its agentic software engineering platform. The stated workflows cover IT support, code remediation and digital employee services. HCLTech says policy guardrails, exception handling and human oversight will apply to high-impact changes, but it does not specify how those controls will be configured or measured.
Anthropic ties the deal to sensitive enterprise work
Anthropic co-founder and president Daniela Amodei framed the partnership around customers’ confidence in using Claude for sensitive tasks.
“AI can only be as useful as it is trustworthy, and we build Claude to give companies the confidence to bring it into their most sensitive and valuable work,” said Daniela Amodei, Co-founder and President of Anthropic.
Amodei cited HCLTech’s work with banks, hospitals, telecom companies and manufacturers as a reason the partnership fits Anthropic’s enterprise ambitions.
HCLTech chief executive and managing director C Vijayakumar pointed to the combination of systems integration and software products. “Few technology companies combine the scale of a global systems integrator with the product depth of an ISV,” he said, arguing that the mix can help the company engineer and deploy agentic AI for clients. The announcement does not provide performance targets or examples of workflows already running in production.
Deployment details remain unspecified
The partnership sets out several intended routes into enterprise use: consulting and industry solutions, sandboxed Claude deployments, software integrations and workflows within AI Force. Its emphasis on training and organizational capabilities acknowledges that putting agents into business processes involves more than adding a model to a product. HCLTech says it will support customers moving from AI experimentation to enterprise deployment, but offers no timeline for that work.
For now, the concrete commitments are the new business unit and Center of Excellence, product integrations, and AI Force workflows with stated human review for high-impact changes. The release leaves open which customers will test the offerings first, when the integrations will become available and what evidence HCLTech and Anthropic will publish about their results.
