DigitalOcean’s new Agent Droplets start at $50 a month, but the subscription is not an all-you-can-use price. Announced October 1, the plans apply discounts to eligible agent resources up to a monthly allowance; customers pay standard rates for eligible usage beyond it. The Pro plan costs $50 monthly with a 15% discount, while Team costs $200 with a 20% discount.
One subscription, with an allowance attached
Agent Droplets group together dedicated microVM compute, memory, session storage, inference on DigitalOcean-hosted models, and governed access to more than 16,000 tools. That access includes services such as code execution, browser automation, web search and web fetch. DigitalOcean says the plans support unlimited agents and carry no seat charges.
The monthly fee funds a balance equal to the subscription price. Eligible resource use draws down that balance at the plan’s discounted rates; once it runs out, additional use is billed at list price. Customers can choose to stop spending at the plan price or continue using a prepaid Inference and Agents Balance. The company says agents can pause with their state preserved if no balance remains to cover further use.
DigitalOcean describes Agent Droplets as a way to consolidate the pieces of an agent stack that can otherwise come with separate vendors, bills and usage meters.
“An Agent Droplet is one subscription for everything an agent needs.”

Claude and GPT stay outside the discount
The plans’ inference discount applies to models hosted by DigitalOcean, including Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3. Third-party models such as Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT are available at standard, pay-as-you-go prices, not the discounted plan rate. The subscription also covers eligible Managed Agents resources rather than every DigitalOcean cloud product.
DigitalOcean separately introduced an Inference and Agents Balance, a prepaid account balance funded in amounts from $5 to $500. It applies to specified AI services, including Serverless Inference, Action Gateway and Managed Agents; ordinary cloud services continue to bill through the customer’s usual account. The balance can cover eligible use after a plan allowance is exhausted.
Public preview terms leave room for changes
Agent Droplets are available in public preview wherever DigitalOcean Managed Agents is offered. The company says existing Managed Agents can move onto a plan without changes, and new customers can start with $5 in promotional credit, subject to eligibility and promotional terms.
DigitalOcean’s preview terms describe the subscription as a beta offering for evaluation and feedback. They say the company may change plan tiers, discounts, eligible resources or models, and that no service-level agreements apply to the preview. The terms also state that the “terms, fees, and discounts applicable at General Availability may differ from those during the Public Preview”; neither the terms nor the October 1 announcement gives a date for general availability.
