CoreWeave announced its entry into India on October 6, planning a 240-megawatt AI data center deployment with AdaniConneX at the Taloja campus in Navi Mumbai. The project will occupy three buildings, each designed for 80 MW, and make CoreWeave the sole tenant across all three.

The announcement sets a distant delivery target: the first phase is expected to become available in mid-2028, with further capacity scheduled to come online in stages. CoreWeave says the campus could later grow by as much as another 240 MW.

Three buildings at Taloja

CoreWeave plans to install NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform on its AI cloud there, targeting training, inference, reasoning and agent workloads. The company says the facilities are being designed for high-density computing, with direct liquid cooling in GPU data halls and a non-evaporative chilled-water system.

Those specifications point to infrastructure planned around the heat and power demands of AI computing, rather than a general-purpose data center retrofit. The announcement does not give construction costs, a detailed schedule for each building, or a customer list for the future capacity.

Local hiring alongside the buildout

CoreWeave says it intends to establish an Indian office and hire locally, describing the local presence as a way to work with customers and partners. The company framed the investment as support for India’s AI ambitions, including the IndiaAI Mission, while positioning the campus as a way to bring its cloud services closer to regional users.

“India has the talent, developers, and ambition to become a major center of AI innovation,” said Sachin Jain, chief operating officer of CoreWeave. Jain added:

“We are investing in the infrastructure, technology, and local presence needed to support that growth, bringing 240 megawatts of capacity, NVIDIA Vera Rubin, and CoreWeave’s expertise to customers building and scaling AI in India.”

Capacity comes later

The mid-2028 target means the announced capacity will not be available to customers immediately. CoreWeave’s plan is a commitment to build out infrastructure over multiple phases, not a report that the campus is already operating.

The India project follows CoreWeave’s August 4 announcement of an expansion into Indonesia, where it said it would add three facilities totaling 360 MW of contracted IT power, also expected to come online in 2028. In its India announcement, CoreWeave said it had approximately 4.2 GW of contracted power as of its August 11 earnings call.

Room to double the campus

AdaniConneX is a 50:50 joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX. CoreWeave’s announcement identifies the Taloja campus as the site for the three initial buildings and says the company has an option to add up to 240 MW there. That makes the announced 240 MW the first planned deployment, not the stated maximum for the campus.

For now, the concrete milestones are the planned three-building buildout, local hiring and the mid-2028 target for its first phase. CoreWeave says later capacity will come online in stages.
