Anthropic's economic research group is hiring an economist to build macroeconomic models of transformative AI and scenario-based forecasts for GDP, productivity and unemployment across AI-capability trajectories. The work combines growth theory, computational macro and structural estimation with microeconomic signals from the Anthropic Economic Index, which measures millions of real-world AI interactions. The posting seeks a PhD economist with macro or growth-theory background, Python or Julia skills, forecasting or simulation experience, and openness to treating transformative-AI scenarios as live research questions.
