Waymo's Safety team is hiring a System Safety Engineer to lead cross-functional hazard analyses, assess risk, define safety requirements and mitigations, and join hardware, software and operations design reviews for its autonomous driving technology. It also guides adoption of safety standards, checks whether risk controls keep working, and improves system safety processes. Candidates need a technical bachelor's degree, 7+ years of engineering experience including five in system safety, and project management. Reports to a System Safety Lead at one of four US cities; about 5% travel; base pay $196,000–$248,000.
