OpenAI's Consumer Devices team is hiring a System Performance Engineer in San Francisco on a hybrid schedule. The job is profiling, benchmarking and optimizing embedded hardware performance across operating systems, applications, camera and vision, graphics and platform work: setting product KPIs, building performance tooling and tracking responsiveness, memory, boot time and stability from lab characterization through launch. Applicants need shipped embedded or high-performance systems experience on Linux, Android or iOS, C/C++, Python or Rust, strong OS fundamentals, and profiling tools such as Perfetto, perf, ftrace or GDB.
