Waymo is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for its ML Infrastructure team. The role builds and optimizes multi-agent simulation environments and related logic in JAX and TensorFlow on TPUs, supports foundation models with model and data parallelism, and profiles accelerators to remove bottlenecks. Candidates need six or more years in software engineering, at least four in ML infrastructure, plus hands-on TPU/GPU training, distributed scaling, and transformer knowledge. Preferred experience includes reinforcement learning, sim-to-real transfer, robotics, or autonomous-driving simulation. Both listed sites are on-site.
