Datadog is hiring a Staff Applied Scientist for Dashboards, which it is turning into an AI-native surface where agents answer observability questions. The role owns evaluation: defining offline and online quality and cost metrics, building eval datasets, golden traces and regression harnesses that catch regressions before customers see them, and improving retrieval relevance and tool-selection accuracy with the team's engineers. The evaluation strategy extends to sister teams. Requirements include a BS/MS/PhD, 10+ years in engineering or applied science with technical leadership, and ML or GenAI work from research into production.
