Waymo's Software Engineering group is hiring for its Maneuvering Tech team, which makes the autonomous cars' behavior safe, smooth and predictable to others — merging, negotiating narrow roads, acting on noisy, incomplete information. The engineer frames open-ended driving problems as engineering problems, then builds, scales and tunes algorithms, tools and evaluation methods so they run in real time on the cars. Required: a technical BS and three years of C++. Preferred: a master's, motion planning or robotics work, and ML-system experience. Base pay: $213,000–$263,000.
