OpenAI is hiring a security software engineer to build the hardware-backed security layer for its device ecosystem. The work centres on the boundary between policy systems and HSMs: writing firmware and software for trusted applications, device drivers, PKCS#11 interfaces, secure provisioning and signing-policy enforcement, plus test harnesses, fuzzers and fault-injection tooling. The posting asks for 5+ years of secure embedded firmware work and deep C, C++ or Rust. It is hands-on engineering, explicitly not HSM administration, PKI operations, compliance or architecture-only work.
