Scale AI's Public Sector Engineering team is hiring a software engineer to own the model inference layer: enabling state-of-the-art models, debugging AI tooling, managing networking, tracking latency and pricing metrics, and re-architecting services to run in air-gapped or restrictive government environments. The role needs an active secret clearance, with willingness to upgrade to TS/SCI with CI Poly, and 3–4 days a week in a DC, SF, NYC or St. Louis office. Backend and full-stack work, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and FedRAMP-style compliance experience are wanted.
