OpenAI's Hardware organization is hiring an SoC Architect to define custom AI silicon for edge deployments and on-device machine learning inference. The role covers architecture and roadmap definition, system tradeoffs across compute, memory, interconnect and power, energy-efficient ML compute subsystems, and hardware/software co-design, with guidance of implementation teams through microarchitecture, RTL, validation and bring-up. The posting asks for proven experience delivering complex SoC or ASIC architectures from concept to production, knowledge of AI accelerators and edge inference, and work with external silicon vendors and IP providers.
