Waymo's Hardware Engineering group is hiring a senior software engineer for inertial navigation, based in Mountain View on a hybrid schedule. The work centers on Waymo's core state-estimation algorithm: improving its accuracy and robustness, shipping production C++ that fuses inertial, GNSS and other sensor data, and building pipelines that assess positioning across millions of miles of real driving. Requirements: a master's, PhD or equivalent experience; expertise in Kalman filters, particle filters, factor graphs and nonlinear optimization; IMU error modeling and calibration; and strong C++. Autonomous-vehicle experience is preferred.
