Waymo's Driver Understanding and Evaluation machine learning team builds the training and evaluation systems behind its autonomous driving stack. The engineer will build scalable systems for training and fine-tuning large models that assess driving behavior, design distributed pipelines covering dataset generation, model training and evaluation, and advise on architecture. The posting asks for an M.S. or Ph.D. or equivalent experience, 5+ years in large-scale ML infrastructure, familiarity with PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow or Ray, and distributed training techniques such as gradient sharding. It is an on-site role in Mountain View.
