Aleph Alpha's model-training team is hiring a senior engineer to build and improve the software and infrastructure used to train and evaluate foundation models. Work spans cluster scheduling, training-pipeline reliability and performance, large-scale code execution for reinforcement learning, and evaluation throughput. The posting asks for a strong software-engineering background, a degree in computer science or a related field, and maintainable, collaborative code; ML experience is not required. Distributed systems, Kubernetes, profiling, benchmarking and memory or throughput optimization help. Heidelberg is primary, Berlin optional, relocation to Germany expected, hybrid.
