OpenAI is hiring research scientists to develop new machine learning techniques and advance the research agendas of its teams. The work spans foundation models, multimodal learning, reasoning, alignment, robotics, model behavior and reinforcement learning, and includes designing and evaluating algorithms and training methods, then scaling results with researchers and engineers. Candidates must identify research problems, form hypotheses and run experiments independently, and show first-author publications, open-source work or comparable impact. Hands-on experience with large-scale deep learning systems and high-performance implementations is useful. Based in San Francisco, hybrid.
