Modal is hiring a technical lead for its machines layer: the bare-metal and cloud hosts that run every Function, Sandbox and training job, plus the control plane that provisions, images, monitors and repairs them. The lead manages three to eight engineers while staying hands-on with BMCs, firmware, PXE, bootloaders, Linux networking, drivers and control-plane services, and joins the on-call rotation. The posting asks for seven years of production coding, three years managing engineers, and experience operating large hardware fleets. GPU and NVIDIA-stack experience are nice-to-haves.
