Modal is hiring a lead to own its LLM inference platform, running a team of engineers across the serving stack, routing infrastructure, an internal optimization platform and the customer-facing product. The role is hands-on: technical contribution, product direction and people management split as the team needs. Work includes recruiting and managing engineers, design and code reviews, and turning frontier customer workloads into a roadmap. Requirements: 10+ years in industry, 3+ years leading, scalable systems, cloud infrastructure, and low-level OS knowledge. On-site in San Francisco.
