Amazon's Fauna team in New York is hiring an HRI Applied Scientist to build conversational and social behaviors for robots: turn-taking, grounding, interruption handling, memory and personalization that let a robot adapt to a user over weeks. The work spans large language models, multimodal input and output, reinforcement learning from human feedback, and perception streams such as gaze and gesture. Candidates need a PhD or a master's, three or more years building models, publications, and Python, Java or C++. The role combines research leadership with production deployment and mentoring.
