OpenAI's Hardware organization seeks a Hardware Strategic Sourcing Manager, Optics, in San Francisco, reporting to the Head of Partnerships & Strategic Sourcing. The role owns sourcing strategy and supplier partnerships for fiber and optical interconnect components: cable assemblies, harnesses, shuffles, optical backplane assemblies, fiber-array units, fiber-to-chip interfaces, detachable connectors and optical routing. Duties cover RFIs, RFPs and RFQs, supplier qualification and negotiation, cost modelling, and continuity and capacity planning. Ten or more years in strategic sourcing or supply-chain leadership in optical communications or related hardware manufacturing is requested.
