Amazon's OMHS Software Controls and Science team is hiring an applied scientist to build physical AI for manufacturing, starting with robotic welding cells. The role spans instrumenting cells with sensors, collecting data, training 3D perception and part-recognition models that match parts to CAD models, and feeding results into robot motion planning. It asks for a PhD in a quantitative field, a year or more in deep learning or computer vision, hands-on robot deployment, and debugging the full stack from perception to control. On-site in Boston.
