A session of the scientific paper reading club run by the Business process automation and AI R&D discussion group, looking at two papers on vector compression. Presenter Anier Velasco Sotomayor covers TurboQuant, an online quantization method combining Polar Quant and QJL, and RaBitQ, a 1-bit quantization approach with a theoretical error bound for approximate nearest neighbor search. He also walks through his own educational Python implementation of TurboQuant, written without GPU code to make the underlying mathematics easier to follow. The meeting is held in English.
