Timothée Lacroix co-founded Mistral AI in April 2023 and is its chief technology officer. He worked at Facebook AI Research and co-authored Meta's LLaMA paper.

Timothée Lacroix is a French computer scientist, co-founder and chief technology officer of Mistral AI. The company's own about page lists him as Co-founder and CTO alongside Arthur Mensch, co-founder and CEO, and Guillaume Lample, co-founder and chief science officer, and dates the company to April 2023. Before Mistral he worked at Facebook AI Research in Paris while doing doctoral work with the Imagine team at École des Ponts ParisTech (Université Paris-Est), defending his thesis, "Tensor decompositions for knowledge base completion", on 3 July 2020; his ICML 2018 paper on canonical tensor decomposition for knowledge-base completion carries both affiliations, and he followed it with work on tensor decompositions for temporal knowledge bases at ICLR 2020. He was one of the fourteen authors of LLaMA, the large language model Meta published in February 2023. Mistral ships open-weight models and the Le Chat assistant, and works with enterprises and governments on tailored systems. It raised €1.7 billion in a Series C announced on 9 September 2025, led by the Dutch semiconductor equipment maker ASML, at a post-money valuation of €11.7 billion.
