Daniela Amodei co-founded Anthropic in 2021 and is its president, leading research, engineering, product, governance and commercial work beside Dario.

Daniela Amodei is co-founder and president of Anthropic, the company behind the Claude models. She was born in 1987 and read English literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She worked in global health and as a congressional staffer, joined Stripe in 2013 as an early employee, and moved to OpenAI in 2018, managing the team through GPT-2 and later serving as vice president of safety and policy. She left OpenAI in 2020 and co-founded Anthropic in 2021 with her brother Dario and five other former colleagues. Anthropic's leadership page says she serves as chair of its board of directors and that she "leads the organization's work across research, engineering, product, governance, and commercial execution and manages the executive team". In May 2026 the company raised a $65 billion Series H at a $965 billion post-money valuation, saying its run-rate revenue had crossed $47 billion that month. TIME put the Amodeis on its 2026 list of the hundred most influential people. Forbes ranked her second on its 2026 list of America's richest self-made women, at an estimated $15.5 billion, up from 28th a year before. She is married to Holden Karnofsky, who co-founded the grantmaking organisation now called Coefficient Giving.
