Zencity was founded in 2016 by Eyal Feder-Levy and Ido Ivri and is based in New York City, with a second office in Tel Aviv. The company built a platform that pulls in resident feedback from surveys, 311 service requests, social media, and local news coverage, then applies natural-language processing to surface sentiment trends that government staff would otherwise have to read through manually. More than 300 city, county, and public-safety agencies use Zencity, including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Harris County, Texas. In 2024 the company raised a $40 million Series C led by StepStone Group, bringing total funding to roughly $91 million, and it has used part of that capital to acquire Commonplace, a community-engagement platform, to expand beyond the U.S. Zencity was named to Fast Company's 2025 list of the World's Most Innovative Companies for applying AI to civic engagement, and it positions itself less as a survey vendor than as an ongoing measurement layer city leaders can check between elections.
