Yellow.ai was founded in Bengaluru in 2016 as Yellow Messenger by Raghu Ravinutala, Rashid Khan and Jaya Kishore Reddy Gollareddy, before rebranding as Yellow.ai and establishing a second headquarters in San Mateo, California, while keeping significant engineering presence in India. The company has raised roughly $102 million across six rounds, with its largest, a $78.15 million Series C, closing in August 2021 led by WestBridge Capital with participation from Sapphire Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Yellow.ai positions itself as an enterprise-grade agentic AI platform for customer and employee experience, combining chat and voice automation under one system rather than treating them as separate products. Its underlying engine, YellowG, is paired with an 'Orchestrator' layer that routes requests across multiple LLMs, and the platform connects to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Microsoft Teams, Slack, SMS, email and voice channels, plus region-specific apps like WeChat, LINE and KakaoTalk. The company reports more than 1,300 enterprise customers across 85-plus countries and 135-plus languages, including named clients like Sony, Domino's, Hyundai and Volkswagen, competing in a category that also includes Intercom's Fin, Sierra and Decagon.
