World Labs
Spatial intelligence lab founded by Fei-Fei Li building large world models that generate persistent, explorable 3D environments from text, images, or video.

World Labs was founded in 2024 in San Francisco by Fei-Fei Li alongside Justin Johnson, Christoph Lassner, and Ben Mildenhall, researchers with backgrounds spanning Stanford's AI lab, neural rendering research, and Google DeepMind. The company emerged from stealth in September 2024 with $230 million in funding at a reported $1 billion valuation, then raised a further $1 billion Series B round in February 2026 led by Autodesk, with participation from Nvidia, AMD, Andreessen Horowitz, Fidelity, and others, at a $5 billion valuation. The company's mission is to build large world models that let AI systems perceive and generate 3D space rather than just 2D images. Its first commercial product, Marble, launched publicly in late 2025 after a limited beta and generates a persistent, spatially consistent 3D world from a text prompt, image, video, or set of panoramas that users can explore, edit, and export. World Labs has grown to roughly 80 employees and was named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies list for 2026, with early customers exploring use cases in gaming, visual effects, and robotics simulation.
