The company is headquartered in San Francisco with additional offices in Atlanta, New York, and London, and has raised roughly $45 million including a $35 million Series B round. The product line has grown from database test-data generation into a broader synthetic data platform: Tonic Structural de-identifies structured databases while preserving referential integrity, Tonic Textual redacts and synthesizes sensitive information in unstructured text and documents, and Tonic Fabricate generates realistic datasets from scratch through a conversational interface rather than starting from an existing database. Tonic.ai serves customers across regulated industries including healthcare, financial services, and insurance, where compliance requirements make working with real production data for testing or model training legally risky.
