Accounts payable automation platform whose AI, nicknamed Billy the Bot, learns a company's coding and approval habits over time.

Stampli was founded in 2015 in Mountain View, California, by brothers Eyal and Ofer Feldman, who built invoice processing around an AI layer from the start rather than adding it to an existing AP tool later. The platform centers invoices as collaborative documents: approvers, coders, and vendors can comment directly on a specific invoice line the way they would in a shared doc, instead of routing paper or PDFs through email. The company has raised roughly $148 million across five rounds, including a $61 million round led by Blackstone alongside Insight Partners, SignalFire, Bloomberg Beta, and NextWorld Capital. Stampli is priced by invoice volume rather than seat count, which lets finance teams add unlimited approvers without paying per login, a model it says removes a common reason AP software gets under-adopted. Stampli's AI, branded Billy the Bot, extracts header and line-item data from invoices, learns GL coding and approval-routing patterns from past corrections, and automates three-way PO matching. The company reports Billy handles a large share of routine coding decisions across the more than 2,500 fields it's trained to recognize, with accuracy improving as it sees more of a customer's specific invoices.
