AI text-to-speech app that converts documents, web pages, and PDFs into natural-sounding spoken audio and audiobooks.

Speechify was founded in 2017 by Cliff Weitzman, a dyslexic Brown University student who built the first version of the tool to help him keep up with class readings. The company is headquartered in Miami, Florida. Speechify's products use neural text-to-speech synthesis to read documents, web pages, PDFs, and e-books aloud across iOS, Android, Chrome, and web, and it markets itself as the most-used consumer text-to-speech and AI voice platform, citing tens of millions of users. In January 2024 the company announced a $10M raise at a $100M valuation; earlier backers have included Forerunner Ventures. Speechify has expanded beyond core text-to-speech into a broader 'Speechify Studio' suite covering AI voice cloning, video, and dubbing, and has also acquired other voice-AI assets (it has published funding/team profiles on acquired-style competitors such as WellSaid Labs). Cliff Weitzman remains CEO.
