SambaNova Systems is an AI infrastructure company headquartered in Palo Alto (with corporate offices in San Jose), California, founded in 2017 by Rodrigo Liang, Kunle Olukotun, and Christopher Ré. It designs its own Reconfigurable Dataflow Unit (RDU) chips as an alternative to GPUs for AI workloads, and sells them both as on-premises hardware systems and as a cloud inference service. The company's SambaNova DataScale systems combine its custom SN chips with software for training and fine-tuning large language models and other AI models, while SambaNova Cloud provides API-based access to open-weight models running on its hardware. SambaNova has raised roughly $1.5 billion in funding to date, including a $1 billion Series F round in July 2026 led by General Atlantic that valued the company at $11 billion, with backers including SoftBank, Intel, BlackRock, and Temasek.
