Cloud-native document AI platform that turns invoices and enterprise paperwork into structured data without manual templates.

Rossum was founded in Prague in 2017 by three AI researchers, Tomas Gogar, Petr Baudis and Tomas Tunys, who set out to remove the template-building step that slowed down older OCR and document-capture tools. The company built its own transactional language model, called Aurora, trained specifically to read information that is actually present on a document rather than infer or generate text, which it positions as a defense against the hallucination problems that come with using general-purpose LLMs for financial data extraction. Rossum's platform handles invoices, delivery notes, purchase orders and other transactional documents across accounts payable and supply-chain workflows for large enterprises. Over 2024 and 2025 the company layered specialist AI agents on top of its core extraction engine, letting the system handle three-way matching, supplier email follow-up and queue routing with less human setup. In August 2025 Rossum said it had achieved ISO/IEC 42001 certification for AI governance, an early move among document-automation vendors. In May 2026, Coupa acquired Rossum to fold its document AI directly into Coupa's spend-management suite, making Rossum's technology a component of a larger procurement platform rather than a standalone vendor going forward.
