Pulumi

Infrastructure-as-code platform that lets engineers provision cloud resources in real programming languages instead of a domain-specific config format.

Pulumi was founded in Seattle in 2017 by Joe Duffy, Eric Rudder and Luke Hoban, all Microsoft veterans; Hoban had previously co-created TypeScript. Their pitch was that infrastructure as code shouldn't require learning a new declarative language like Terraform's HCL when engineers already know Python, TypeScript, Go, C# or Java, and that provisioning logic benefits from the same unit tests, static typing and IDE tooling as application code. Pulumi now bridges more than a hundred cloud and SaaS providers, including AWS, Azure, GCP and Kubernetes, and counts Nvidia, BMW and Snowflake among its more than 3,700 customers. In September 2025 the company launched Pulumi Neo, an AI agent built on top of its IaC engine that takes natural-language requests and carries out cloud provisioning, compliance and operational tasks within guardrails the customer defines. Pulumi has raised roughly $98 million in total funding, including a $41 million Series C in 2023 led by Madrona Venture Group and NEA.
