Motion is a San Francisco company founded in 2019 by Harry Qi, Omid Rooholfada, and Ethan Yu, and backed by Y Combinator. Qi left a hedge-fund role to build the product. The platform pairs task and project management with an AI scheduler that automatically blocks time on a user's calendar based on task priorities, durations, and deadlines, then reschedules dynamically as the day changes. It also offers meeting booking pages and team workload views, and has been expanding toward autonomous 'AI employee' agents that execute workflows. In 2025 Motion raised a $38 million Series C led by Scale Venture Partners, part of a larger $60 million raise that valued the company at $550 million. It reports serving well over 100,000 customers.
