Intercom

AI-first customer service platform whose Fin AI Agent resolves support queries across chat, email, and phone; company renamed from Intercom to Fin in 2026.

Intercom

Founded in 2011 in San Francisco by Irish entrepreneurs Eoghan McCabe, Des Traynor, Ciaran Lee, and David Barrett, Intercom began as a customer messaging and support platform for businesses. The company raised venture funding including a $6M Series A (2013), $23M Series B (2014), and $125M Series D (2018, led by Kleiner Perkins). It later built Fin, an AI customer service agent, which became its flagship product; in May 2026 the company renamed itself from Intercom to Fin, and in March 2026 it raised $250M in venture debt from Hercules Capital to fund further AI development. In June 2026, Fin agreed to be acquired by Salesforce for approximately $3.6 billion, with the deal expected to close in early 2027. Salesforce plans to integrate Fin's technology into its Agentforce platform, and Fin's existing leadership, including CEO Eoghan McCabe, is expected to remain in place.
