Brisk Teaching was founded in 2023 by Arman Jaffer, who previously worked on Google's mobile search team, in the White House Office of the Chief Technology Officer, and as a product manager on the education team at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. The company is based in Los Altos, California, and has raised roughly $22 million to date, including a $15 million Series A in March 2025 from investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners, Owl Ventures, and South Park Commons, following an earlier $5 million seed round. Rather than building a separate destination site, Brisk ships as a Chrome and Edge browser extension that layers AI tools directly into what teachers already use — Google Docs, Slides, YouTube, PDFs, and most learning management systems. Its more than 30 tools cover lesson and unit planning, generating leveled or translated versions of a text, turning a YouTube video into comprehension questions, and giving writing feedback that flags AI-assisted patterns alongside a replay of how a student's draft evolved. The company reports over one million active teacher users and has earned Common Sense Media's top privacy rating multiple years running.
