Anysphere, Inc., doing business as Cursor, is an American software company that develops Cursor, an AI-powered code editor built on Visual Studio Code, along with an underlying AI coding agent. The company was incorporated in 2022 by four MIT-affiliated friends: Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark, and Aman Sanger. Anysphere raised an $8 million seed round in October 2023 led by the OpenAI Startup Fund. It subsequently raised a Series C of $900 million led by Thrive Capital in June 2025 at a $9.9 billion valuation, followed by a $2.3 billion Series D in November 2025 co-led by Accel and Coatue Management at a $29.3 billion valuation. The company's annual recurring revenue grew rapidly, from roughly $100 million in January 2025 to over $2 billion by early 2026. On June 16, 2026, SpaceX announced an agreement to acquire Anysphere in an all-stock deal valuing the company at $60 billion, reported as the largest acquisition of a venture-backed startup to date; the transaction was expected to close in Q3 2026, pending regulatory approval. Anysphere is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and has grown to roughly 300 employees as of mid-2026.
