WeatherMesh

WeatherMesh is WindBorne’s AI weather forecasting model, producing global and regional forecasts from balloon, satellite, radar, and surface observations.

WeatherMesh

WeatherMesh produces forecast data through an API and an insights platform. WeatherMesh-6 Global provides global forecasts with 128 ensemble members, while the 3km variant provides higher-resolution regional forecasts over CONUS.

It is used by energy traders, utilities, researchers, and weather-sensitive businesses for forecasting temperature, wind, precipitation, radiation, and other atmospheric variables. API access requires an API key; historical data is provided upon request, and commercial access requires contacting WindBorne.

Features

  • Generates global WeatherMesh-6 forecasts at 0.25° resolution
  • Provides 128-member ensemble forecasts with percentiles and probabilities
  • Runs a 3km regional model over CONUS
  • Updates global forecasts hourly and regional forecasts every 15 minutes
  • Forecasts surface and upper-air variables across 25 pressure levels
  • Delivers data as Zarr or netCDF through cURL, Python, or CLI
  • Provides REST API access with a Python SDK and command-line interface

Use cases

  • Forecast wind and temperature for energy trading decisions
  • Monitor storm development and extreme-weather risk
  • Estimate renewable generation from wind, solar, and precipitation forecasts
  • Build weather-driven alerts and operational automations
  • Analyze forecast uncertainty with ensemble members and probabilities
