Bittensor Network

Bittensor is an open network where subnets produce digital commodities and participants earn TAO for useful work.

Bittensor Network

Bittensor coordinates independent subnets through the Subtensor blockchain. Subnets can provide compute, inference, storage, prediction, or other digital commodities. Miners produce the work, validators score it, subnet creators define incentives, and stakers back validators with TAO.

Users interact through the Bittensor Python SDK and btcli command line. Running a miner or validator requires operating subnet-specific software and infrastructure; registration, staking, transactions, and other network actions may incur TAO costs or fees. The network itself does not provide one centralized AI service.

Features

  • Coordinates independent subnets through the Subtensor blockchain
  • Supports digital commodities including compute, inference, storage, and prediction
  • Rewards miners, validators, subnet creators, and stakers in TAO
  • Provides a Python SDK for querying and transacting on the network
  • Includes the btcli command line for wallets, staking, mining, and validation
  • Uses subnet incentive mechanisms and validator scoring to allocate emissions
  • Supports public mainnet, testnet, devnet, and local network endpoints

Use cases

  • Launch a subnet with a custom incentive mechanism
  • Mine by producing work that a subnet's validators reward
  • Validate miners and score their work within a subnet
  • Stake TAO behind validators and receive delegated rewards
  • Build applications that query or transact with the Bittensor chain
  • Operate wallets and network actions through btcli
