Salesforce completed its acquisition of Fin on September 10, bringing the customer-agent company formerly known as Intercom into the CRM provider’s AI organization. The deal adds Fin’s customer-service platform, technical AI team and customer base of more than 30,000 companies to Salesforce.
Salesforce announced the closing in a September 10 press release, while Fin published the same announcement on its company blog. Salesforce agreed in June to acquire Fin for approximately $3.6 billion, subject to customary purchase-price adjustments.
Fin joins Salesforce’s AI Labs
Fin’s customer agent uses the company’s proprietary model suite to handle customer questions across live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, voice and Slack. Salesforce says the system achieves an average resolution rate of 76% for customer queries, although the announcement does not provide a methodology or comparison group for that figure.
Fin will operate as part of Salesforce’s AI Labs and will continue serving its existing customers, according to the closing announcement. The company’s platform is designed to work with help desks and other systems already used by service teams, while Salesforce positions Agentforce as the more customizable option for larger deployments.
“The #1 customer agent meets the #1 CRM,” said Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO of Salesforce. “The future of customer service is autonomous, intelligent, and built on trust.”

A faster route into customer-service automation
The acquisition gives Salesforce two related approaches to AI-powered service. Fin offers a packaged agent intended for faster deployment on existing systems, while Agentforce provides deeper configuration across Salesforce data, applications and workflows.
That distinction was central to Salesforce’s original June acquisition announcement. Salesforce said Fin would give smaller and mid-sized service organizations a quicker way to launch customer agents, while Agentforce would continue targeting more tailored enterprise transformations.
Salesforce also disclosed in June that Agentforce had reached $1.2 billion in annual recurring revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, up 205% from a year earlier. The company described Fin as a complement to that business rather than a replacement for Agentforce.
McCabe says Fin can reach more businesses
Eoghan McCabe, Fin’s CEO and co-founder, said the acquisition would expand the number of businesses able to use the company’s technology. Fin began as Intercom and shifted its focus toward AI customer agents before adopting the Fin name.
“The big strategic benefit of our decision to join Salesforce is magnitudes more businesses and their customers that we can bring it to,” McCabe said. “Everyone wins when businesses can perfectly serve their customers.”

The transaction gives Salesforce another way to sell automated customer service to companies that may not want a long implementation project. For Fin, the immediate change is distribution: its agent now sits inside a company with a broad CRM customer base and an established enterprise sales operation.
Fin’s platform will continue serving customers under Salesforce ownership, with the company saying its team will keep developing customer-agent capabilities and AI models. The acquisition closed on September 10, 2026.
