OpenAI and Oracle announced an expanded partnership on October 27 at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas, with a plan to bring Oracle applications and data into ChatGPT and add OpenAI-powered tools to Oracle’s product lineup. The centerpiece, Oracle AI Workspace, is still being developed; the companies describe it as a way for employees to find information and complete approved business workflows through ChatGPT.

The announcement also bundles together security testing, app development and cloud services, extending a commercial relationship that already includes the OpenAI API, ChatGPT Work and Codex. “Our expanded partnership with Oracle helps bring that opportunity to more companies,” said Greg Brockman, president and co-founder of OpenAI.

Oracle AI Workspace aims to connect work across apps

OpenAI says the planned Workspace will let employees describe a task in ChatGPT, then draw on Oracle applications and data to carry it out. The company gives the example of a new finance employee investigating costs, understanding purchasing decisions and checking what remains before month-end close, with information drawn from finance, procurement and planning tools.

Oracle’s announcement names Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure among the systems its Workspace is designed to connect. Both companies say access will follow organizational permissions and approvals. Neither announcement gives a launch date for Oracle AI Workspace.

Security and app-building join the ChatGPT integration

Oracle AI Security Mesh is designed to use OpenAI cyber models to help customers find and fix vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure. Oracle says it will manage the testing infrastructure and safeguards, while customers define where testing is authorized and set its scope. The service is described as covering Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, other cloud environments and on-premises systems.

Oracle App Composer, meanwhile, is meant to let teams build applications with Codex and other AI tools, connect them to approved Oracle data and workflows, and deploy them on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Oracle says the product will include organizational permissions and access controls. The announcement does not provide a release schedule for either product.

Oracle packages OpenAI tools for smaller businesses

Oracle’s AI SMB Bundle combines ChatGPT Business and Codex with Oracle applications and recurring cloud credits. Oracle’s release describes it as free to start and says it includes $12,000 in Oracle cloud credits each year, alongside NetSuite QuickStart for tasks such as invoicing and cash-flow management. The release says terms and restrictions apply.

Oracle also reports 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users at the company. Its recruiting team, OpenAI says, reduced preparation for market research that previously took two to four days to 15–20 minutes using ChatGPT Work. Those are company-reported figures, not an independent evaluation of the new products.

Oracle Marketplace offers the clearest immediate route

U.S. Oracle customers can purchase access to the OpenAI API, Codex and ChatGPT Work through Oracle Marketplace, using existing procurement processes and eligible Oracle Universal Credits. That purchasing option is distinct from Oracle AI Workspace, which OpenAI describes as under development.

Oracle’s announcement cautions that product direction does not commit the company to deliver specific features, and says timing and pricing may change. The partnership sets out a broad set of intended integrations, but the announcements leave Workspace’s availability and the rollout details for the other new offerings unspecified.
