Grok Bot Posts an Early Usage Signal

“That data effective September 14th, 418,000 users of the AI agent, which represents a 24% week-on-week jump.”

Ed Ludlow, Bloomberg

SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot reached 418,000 weekly users as of September 14, roughly one month after its launch, according to data discussed by Bloomberg’s Ed Ludlow on September 22. The figure marks a 24% increase from the previous week and gives Elon Musk’s AI company an early measure of demand for its workplace-focused agent.

Grok Bot is separate from SpaceXAI’s main Grok chatbot. The product is designed to behave more like an always-on digital employee, carrying out assignments across applications and websites rather than limiting its role to answering questions in a chat window. Bloomberg described the product as a more enterprise-oriented offering as SpaceXAI competes with OpenAI and Anthropic in AI agents.

The 418,000 figure represents weekly users, not disclosed revenue, paid accounts or the number of organizations deploying the software. Bloomberg’s report also does not establish how many users returned regularly, how much work they assigned to the system or how many converted from trial access to paid plans.

August 11 Launch Targets Workplace Tasks

SpaceXAI introduced Grok Bot on August 11 as a system built around multiple AI agents. The company said the software can sign into applications and websites, retain information from earlier tasks and allow agents to share context with one another. Bloomberg’s launch report, published through Yahoo Finance, said the product was being used internally by SpaceXAI’s engineering, growth and marketing teams.

Examples supplied at launch included finding new sales accounts, drafting emails and pulling receipts from inboxes for finance work. The product’s design assumes that users will delegate work that continues after the initial instruction, with the agent returning when it needs approval or encounters a task it cannot complete.

That operating model makes weekly usage a different measure from the headline user counts often attached to consumer chatbots. A person who opens a chatbot once may count as an active user, while an enterprise agent has to earn repeated access to company systems and business processes before it becomes part of ordinary work.

Access Is Tied to Paid Grok Plans

X’s official help documentation says Grok Bot is included with Premium+ access, alongside SuperGrok and other features. The company describes the product as a set of AI teammates that work in the background, sign into applications and complete jobs. X’s Premium documentation does not provide a public breakdown of Grok Bot’s users or revenue.

SpaceXAI has also made Grok Bot available through other parts of its software portfolio, including Cursor and separate subscription plans, according to coverage of the rollout. That distribution gives the product several routes to adoption, but it also makes the 418,000 figure difficult to interpret without a breakdown by platform, plan or customer type.

Growth Comes as AI Agents Draw More Attention

The usage update arrives as companies build products that can perform multi-step tasks instead of generating a single response. SpaceXAI’s pitch centers on persistent work across email, databases, websites and internal tools. OpenAI and Anthropic are pursuing related enterprise markets, giving SpaceXAI a direct test of whether its software can turn access to its models into recurring workplace use.

A 24% week-on-week increase is a positive early growth marker, but the base period is short and the product had been available for only about a month. The public data does not show whether the increase came from new customers, broader access through bundled plans or heavier use by existing accounts.

What the 418,000 Figure Does—and Does Not—Show

Grok Bot’s first reported milestone shows that SpaceXAI has attracted hundreds of thousands of weekly users to an agent product aimed at professional work. It does not yet show how much of that activity is paid, how deeply the agents are embedded in company operations or whether users continue using them after initial experimentation.

The next meaningful indicators will be repeat usage, customer retention and evidence that organizations are assigning production work to the agents. For now, the clearest public fact is narrower: Grok Bot recorded 418,000 weekly users for the week ending September 14, up 24% from the prior week.
