Dell Puts Gemini at the Center of Its First XPS Googlebook
Dell has introduced the 13-inch XPS Googlebook, its first XPS laptop designed around Google’s Gemini Intelligence platform. The $999 laptop combines a Snapdragon X Elite processor, Android phone integration and a 2.5K touch display.

Dell introduced the XPS Googlebook on September 21, 2026, making the 13-inch machine the first XPS laptop designed for Google’s Gemini Intelligence platform. The launch gives Googlebook a premium hardware option from one of the largest PC manufacturers and places Gemini-powered assistance directly inside a laptop built around Android phone integration.
Dell says the XPS Googlebook starts at $999 in the United States and is available through Best Buy and Google Stores, with Dell.com availability planned for October. Google’s product page lists a 16GB RAM, 512GB storage configuration at $1,199 and currently offers a notification option, indicating that pricing and availability may vary by configuration and retailer.
Gemini Moves Beyond a Separate Chat Window
Google announced Googlebook in May as a new laptop category built around Gemini rather than as a direct replacement for Chromebook. The company describes the platform as a combination of Android technology, ChromeOS and premium hardware, with Gemini serving as an integrated assistant across the desktop.
Google’s Magic Pointer feature activates Gemini when users move the cursor and select items on screen. The company says users can point at a date in an email to begin setting up a meeting or select two images to compare them. Another feature, Create your Widget, lets users ask Gemini to assemble dashboards using information from services such as Gmail and Calendar.
The Googlebook platform also includes Rambler, a voice-to-text feature that removes filler words and formats spoken notes. Gemini can continue assigned tasks through its app after the laptop is closed, while smart file search is designed to find files and photos by their content rather than by filename.
A 2.2-Pound XPS Built Around Android
Dell’s machine uses a CNC-machined aluminum chassis that weighs 2.2 pounds and measures 12.7 millimeters thick. Its 13-inch 2.5K InfinityEdge touch display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, reaches 500 nits of brightness and supports a variable refresh rate from 30Hz to 120Hz.
The laptop runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor. Dell says its internal testing produced up to 16 hours of Netflix streaming on a charge, using a configuration with 16GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. Battery results depend on display settings, software, workload and other operating conditions.
Google’s product listing adds a Titan C security chip, automatic updates and a dedicated G key for one-touch searches. The XPS Googlebook also includes a glowbar that indicates battery and charging status, a hardware feature Google is using across the first Googlebook machines.
Phone Apps and Files Stay in Reach
Android integration is one of Googlebook’s clearest differences from a conventional Chromebook. Cast My Apps lets users open applications from an Android phone on the laptop, while Continue On moves an unfinished task from a phone to the computer. Quick Access exposes phone files directly in the laptop’s file browser without requiring a separate transfer.
Google says Googlebook laptops can run Android applications through the Google Play Store and include services such as Chrome, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, YouTube and Gemini. The platform also supports applications including Adobe Photoshop, CapCut and Microsoft 365, according to Google’s product materials.
The XPS Googlebook arrives with 12 months of Google AI Pro and 5TB of cloud storage, according to the Google Store listing. The package also includes access to applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, which Google values at $500.
Dell Joins Acer, Asus, HP and Lenovo
Dell is one of five launch partners Google named for the first Googlebook wave, alongside Acer, Asus, HP and Lenovo. Google’s platform page lists Intel Core Ultra and Snapdragon X Elite processors across the opening range, with devices starting at $899, at least 16GB of memory and designs weighing under 2.85 pounds.
The XPS model occupies the upper end of that group. Its aluminum construction, high-resolution touchscreen and Snapdragon processor put it closer to premium Windows ultrabooks than to the inexpensive Chromebook models that established Google’s original laptop category.
Googlebook’s bet is that Gemini becomes useful when it can act across the pointer, files, phone apps and desktop tasks instead of living in a browser tab. Dell’s XPS Googlebook is the first concrete test of that pitch from a major PC brand, with a $999 entry price in Dell’s announcement and a $1,199 Google Store configuration already listed for buyers.
