Apple Previews iOS 27 and Siri AI for Developer Testing

Apple has previewed iOS 27 and its next generation of Apple Intelligence, including Siri AI, at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, 2026. The company says the new software is available for developer testing beginning June 8, with a public beta planned for July and a free software update scheduled for fall 2026.
Siri AI Is the Main New Assistant
Apple describes Siri AI as an entirely new version of Siri, integrated across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. It can use personal context to search across messages, emails, photos, and other content, answer questions about what appears on a user’s screen, search the web for current information, and carry out actions across apps.
A dedicated Siri app will let users revisit past conversations or start new ones. Apple says iCloud will privately sync conversational history across a user’s Apple products.
The company also presented broader Apple Intelligence updates for system apps. In Photos, Spatial Reframing will let users adjust the composition of an image after it has been taken. Apple says the wider software updates also improve tasks involving Safari, Image Playground, Messages, and Mail.
Availability and Device Requirements
Apple says the new features are available for testing through the Apple Developer Program beginning June 8. A public beta will arrive through the Apple Beta Software Program in July, and the software features will become available as free updates in fall 2026.
Apple Intelligence and Siri AI will be supported on iPhone 16 models or later, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip, iPads with M1 or later, Macs with M1 or later, MacBook Neo, Apple Vision Pro, and selected Apple Watch models when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone nearby.
Apple says Siri AI will be available as a beta later in 2026 for users with a supported device set to English. The company says it plans to expand support to additional languages. Availability may vary by language, region, device, and local regulations.
In the European Union, Mac and Apple Vision Pro users will be able to access Siri AI when their devices are set to a supported language. Apple says Siri AI will not initially be available in iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS in the EU. The company also says Siri AI and other new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China while it works through regulatory requirements.
Other iOS 27 Changes
Beyond Apple Intelligence, Apple says iOS 27 and its related software releases include new parental controls and Screen Time tools. Parents will be able to create child accounts, set age-appropriate protections, approve new contacts, limit access to apps and websites, and establish schedules and daily allowances for categories such as entertainment, games, and social media.
Apple also lists performance and design improvements across its software platforms. It says iPhone and iPad apps can launch up to 30 percent faster, photos can load up to 70 percent faster after being taken, and AirDrop transfers can be up to 80 percent faster under its testing conditions.
The announcement presents iOS 27 as a preview rather than a completed public rollout. Developer testing begins June 8, public beta testing follows in July, and the general software update is planned for fall 2026.
