Adaptive Raises $30M to Expand AI Accounting Agents for Construction
Adaptive has raised $30 million in Series B funding led by Tidemark to expand its Project Accounting Agents across construction finance workflows.

Adaptive announced on September 17, 2026, that it raised $30 million in Series B funding led by Tidemark, with participation from existing investors Emergence Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Pathlight, Definition and 3KVC.
The financing brings Adaptive’s total capital raised to $57 million. The company plans to use the money to expand its Project Accounting Agents across job costing, accounts payable, billing, work-in-progress reporting, payments and compliance.
Adaptive’s agents can gather information and prepare accounting work, but they do not post to the general ledger without human approval. A person reviews every action and provides judgment and approval before it reaches the books.
Adaptive Targets the Information Outside the Ledger
Construction accounting depends on facts that do not always make it into the accounting system. A controller may need to know whether a project is 40% or 60% complete, how a delayed material package will affect the schedule and cost to complete, which cost code applies to a charge or what a subcontractor is owed during the current month.
Adaptive says those facts sit in project schedules, daily logs, emails approving extra work and the knowledge of the superintendent running the job. Closing that gap has traditionally required someone in the office to call, text and email people for the information, then enter it by hand.
“The hardest part of construction accounting isn’t the accounting. It’s finding out what’s actually happening on the job, and what that means for the numbers. What’s the true cost to complete? Which cost code does this belong to? What do we actually owe this subcontractor? Finance teams are blocked on all of it, and the only way they get answers today is calling, texting, and emailing people who are busy building. Our agents go get those answers, and then they do the accounting that was waiting on it.”

Agents Handle Job Costing, Billing and Compliance
Adaptive’s software is designed to coordinate work that normally moves between finance teams, project managers, field staff, vendors and subcontractors. The company says its agents can code invoices to the appropriate job, phase and cost code, match them with purchase orders, draft change orders, chase signatures, prepare billings and assemble monthly work-in-progress reports.
The agents also keep lien waivers and vendor insurance current. Adaptive says the system handles coordination and information gathering while leaving the final accounting decision to a person.
Human Approval Stays in the Financial Loop
Adaptive says its agents never post to the general ledger independently. A person reviews each action before it reaches the books, with the software handling information gathering and coordination while finance staff provide judgment and approval.
That safeguard applies across estimates, commitments, billing and project forecasts, where a mistaken interpretation of field information can affect connected financial records.
“Every contractor we work with wants the same thing: a close they can trust, delivered on time. Adaptive’s Project Accounting Agents handle the invoice coding and change order tracking, so our team can focus on the question clients are actually asking: ‘What does this number mean for my business?’”

750 Construction Companies Already Use Adaptive
Adaptive says more than 750 construction companies now use its platform. Those customers range from companies with $5 million in annual revenue to businesses with $1 billion, spanning general contractors, specialty trades and real estate developers.
The company says its software works across more than 10 accounting systems, including QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Foundation and Acumatica. Adaptive also reports partnerships with more than 40 accounting firms.
“Adaptive is one of the clearest examples we’ve found of a System of Action: it doesn’t just help construction finance teams do the work, it increasingly does the work itself. By bridging the back office and the field, Adaptive eliminates much of the manual coordination required to understand job-level costs. Customers already see it as one of the most important tools in their stack, and we’re excited to partner with Matt, Henry, and the team on their journey to build the defining application layer for construction finance.”

New Funding Will Expand Adaptive’s Boston and New York Teams
The Series B will fund continued development of Adaptive’s Project Accounting Agents and expansion of the company’s Boston- and New York-based teams. The company says it will focus on extending the agents across job costing, accounts payable, billing, work-in-progress reporting, payments and compliance.
Adaptive’s proposition is not to remove human review from accounting. It is building software that gathers project context, organizes information from the field and prepares accounting work that finance teams can review before it enters the books.
