Waymo's Onboard Map Expansion team builds technology and APIs for driving logic that stays robust when maps are incorrect or unavailable, so the autonomous service can scale into new cities. The role leads horizontal solutions to city-specific driving behaviors, builds quantitative evaluation methods for data-driven development, and works with Mapping, Product and the rest of the onboard stack. Candidates need a degree in CS, ML, robotics or a related field, experience analyzing large datasets, and cross-component design and API skills; autonomous driving experience, SQL, C++ and ML evaluation work are preferred.
